Death/Desire

Death/Desire explores the intertwined cycles of life, suffering, and desire through cyanotype, embroidery, and natural dyes. Guided by the belief that the ego or self is extinguished when desire ceases, I reflect on the paradox that life and suffering are synonymous, making the release of desire a paradoxical human endeavor. Each piece draws inspiration from the four seasons, symbolizing the continuous transformation and renewal present in nature. The ghostly photographic images evoke impermanence, while embroidery echoes the labor of life itself, and the flora and natural dyes reflect the transformative beauty found in letting go. Through these layered, tactile processes, I aim to visualize the dissolution of attachment as an act of liberation–a return to elemental unity with the natural world. This body of work invites reflection on the cyclical rhythms of existence and the serenity that can emerge from embracing impermanence and the fleeting nature of desire.
